Algebra for Alchemists turns algebra into a kind of symbolic magic—where the "spell" isn't memorization, it's understanding. Students learn transformation rules, hidden structures, and the art of turning one form into another so problems become simpler, clearer, and more solvable. We cover core algebra skills (functions, solving, factoring, rearranging, modeling), but we teach them through themed puzzles and "transmutation" challenges that make the work feel meaningful and memorable.
The honors edge comes from depth and elegance. Students practice multiple solution paths and learn to compare them: Which method is faster? Which is cleaner? Which reveals the structure best? This builds mathematical taste—an instinct for how to move through problems with confidence rather than brute force.
