Robot Helpers: Sensors + Math (Angles, Distance, Timing)

Math becomes the superpower. Robots are the wrapper.

Difficulty: Standard

Math becomes the superpower. Robots are the wrapper.

Robot Helpers uses simple sensor ideas to make math feel purposeful. Students learn angles, distance, timing, and measurement by solving practical challenges like "detect," "avoid," "follow," and "navigate." The robotics is the wrapper; the math becomes the superpower—because students can see exactly why the numbers matter.
We emphasize modeling and reasoning: how to estimate, how to measure, how to interpret sensor-like data, and how to translate a situation into a solvable plan. Students practice turning messy reality into clean steps: draw a diagram, label knowns/unknowns, choose a method, and verify.
It's a bridge course—fun, grounded, and skill-building. Students leave stronger in measurement and geometry-adjacent thinking, with better confidence in applying math to real problems (a skill that helps far beyond robotics).

Key Points

  • Learn purposeful math: angles, distance, timing, measurement, estimation
  • Practice modeling: diagrams, knowns/unknowns, method choice, verification
  • Interpret simple sensor-style data to solve practical navigation problems
  • Build confidence applying math to real-world scenarios (beyond worksheets)
